Faceted Dining Set with Patina Glaze
This collection was a vehicle for two key explorations: alteration of thrown forms using faceting and fluting techniques, and the development of a patina-green glaze specifically for a black stoneware clay body at cone 6.
The plates’ rims were fluted using a looped trimming tool, while the bowl and cup were faceted into eight-sided forms using a rasp and sharp knife. This glaze was developed to resemble patinated bronze, enabling the forms to call back to archeological objects made from the namesake material.
